All year Z31 Tranny's will mount up with the engine. The problem is the companion flanges, easiest way to avoid this is find a tranny from the same year, model (2+2, Turbo etc) if thats not an option, if its a 5speed any tranny from a 87-89 should work. providing its from the same trim.

thank you, just so i get this right only a 300zx tranny will work,not a 280zx or any of the or 79 - 86, 240 260 or 280 zxs
Thats correct. only a Z31 transmission will work, And if you want it to be bolt in, find one from the same model as your car, So if its a 1987 you will want a 87 tranny, if its a 5 speed you will want a 1987 5 speed transmission.
I got a cuestion i have a 1990 nissan 300zx 2+2 non turbo the transmission of one zx 1988 can fit on my car
1988 zx is a z32 series and a1990 is a z31 series. Buy if you're interested in putting the 1988 transmission up for sale I'm willing to buy it.
Z31 was up to 88. Z32 was from 89 onwards. You have it backwards. Easy to recall as 31 comes before 32.
