Some GM vehicles have a button located in the fusebox inside the vehicle to reset the oil life system. Others use a series of key on/key off switches such as holding the key in the on position for so many seconds, etc. Check your manual or ask your dealer how to do this and they should be happy to show you.
Rather than guessing, I'll tell you where it is! When you use the "Info" button to toggle the digital readout to "Oil Life" press and hold the "Enter" button (the arrow) until the oil life resets to 100%. Good luck!
wow do you guys even own an HHR cause you have NO CLue what your talking about lol Direction: Turn the ignition key to Run but dont start the car. make sure your doors are closed, Press the information button and the reset button (Bottom Button) at the same time, then scroll to Oil Life Reset and press and hold the reset button until the display says Acknowledged. Your Done ENjoy, and for those would be mechanics , Stick to what YOU do best which hopefully ISNT trying to fix someones car...
another way to reset your oil life is turn the key on, but dont start it. push the gas pedle to the floor 3 times and shut off the ignition. then turn it back on and go to the info button on the steering wheel and see if it reads out 100% oil life.
try the button on the steering wheel
I was going to tell you the same thing that Butch686 said. Most GM cars have the same reset with is just what he stated.
if you take 3 psi our of the left rear tire and 2.5 psi to the right front tire, turn on the windshield wipers and honk the horn 5 times. That will reset the oil life system.
I have an 06 Chevy HHR & both what Zachary & Butch686 said are the correct ways to reset the oil life & what Kevin said is hilarious...
butch686 is right for my 09 hhr, Didn't try Zacharys, will try that next time. The enter button does not work for oil life reset.
hold the enter button down 5-12 sec to reset. it takes time to register.
Butch686 is right.... I have an 06 HHR and I tried what he said an it reset my my oil life. Thank you.
2006 HHR: 1. Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off 2. Press the INFO and RESET buttons on the DIC at the same time to enter the personalization menu 3. Press the INFO button to scroll through the menus until you see “Oil-Life Reset” 4. Press and hold the RESET button until you see “Acknowledged” displayed 5. Turn the key to the OFF position and back on to confirm reset successful.
Key on gas pedal to floor 3 times turn key off done
Key on but don't start it gas pedal to floor 3 times turn key off then back on it should be reset
The pedal to the floor three time works for my 2006 Silverado, not the HHR. The steps I posted above for the HHR, i what I had to do do reset the oil life indicator.
None of these work for a 2010 chevy cruze hhr, i had to hold down reset and info till it said oil life reset then let off the buttons and push them right bk down again together till it said acknowledged
How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System After changing the engine oil, the system must be reset: 1. Turn the ignition to ON/RUN, with the engine off. 2. Press the information button to scroll through the menu until the DIC display shows OIL-LIFE XX%. 3. Press the INFOrmation and RESET buttons (the one with the RETURN symbol on it) on the Driver Information Center (DIC) (left side of the steering wheel) at the same time to enter the personalization menu. OIL LIFE RESET should be displayed. 4. Press and hold the RESET button until the DIC display shows ACKNOWLEDGED. This will tell you the system has been reset. Scrolling through the information screens again to verify OIL LIFE 100% is now displayed. For vehicles with the 2.2L (VIN code V) or 2.4L (VIN code B) engines, you can also reset the system as follows: 1. Turn the ignition key to ON/RUN with the engine off. 2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds. 3. Turn the key to LOCK/OFF, then start the engine. If the CHANGE OIL SOON message comes back on when the vehicle is started, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the reset procedure.

I've tried them ALL, so has my husband! Pinnaclenetwork had the best result for my 08 SS. Finally, I thought I was going to go insane trying to reset this damn thing!
