1968 Pontiac leMans options

Asked by MyLemans68 May 12, 2018 at 10:22 PM about the 1968 Pontiac Le Mans

Question type: General

A couple years ago I purchased in 1968
Lemans 2 door hardtop 350 2 barrel, no AC,
no power brakes, dual exhaust. The color is
yellow, originally had a black vinyl top.
Interior is black with bucket seats, floor shift
automatic 2 speed, walnut wood dash look,
radio with dash speaker,  and that's it,
nothing else. I thought the leMans was
supposed to be better equipped than the
Tempest. Is my car unusual?

Sounds exactly like the car I had right down to the color and options you listed! Parents bought it new in 68 and passed it down to me in 70 when my dad died to replace my 66. You are right, the Lemans was a step up from a Tempest but that came in the way of trim like your bucket seats. Not many other options except AC power brakes, power steering, vinyl top, and tire types. The Lemans version also had additional chrome accents and other incidentals I can't recall. Your dual exhaust is unusual for a 2 BBL, 350 though. Could have been put on by a previous owner.

Too long ago with many cars in between but thanks for asking. I only owned it for 2 years (1971 & 1972) and traded it in for a '73 LeMans Sport Coupe (I wanted a manual trans car). This was the first "new" car I bought and I have some pretty detailed records for that and all others after - just not the '68.
