My 2007 Nissan Altima went from running fine to shaking bad and running rough when my daughter was driving. She said the service engine soon light was coming on and off. When she pushed the gas.

When my husband turned it back on it shook and idled very rough. Could using 100%
gas, for a change cause this?

the octane change won't cause this- the light says to check your engine- so- it is time to service your engine- hopefully, a routine service will fix it-

check sparkplugs and coil pack bad coil packs could cause a misfire in a cylinder you can be sure by using a code reader. A misfire in a cylinder causes shaking.

Check spark plugs. Fake ones going around on popular shopping sites. Platinum tip plugs shouldn't have a magnetic pull, or atleast not very strong. Fake ngk plugs go tink! Sucks tip right to your magnet on the fake ones. This was the problem for me. I replaced everything before I realized I was a dumb a....
