remote start on 07 Grand Prix not working

Asked by misslace Nov 22, 2016 at 03:33 PM about the 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The remote start on my 07 Pontiac Grand Prix is from the factory.  I did have my service engine light come on, after that it would not work.  We had the vehicle inspected and repaired, the service engine light is no longer on now.  I am still unable to start car with remote start.  I checked the display function in this car and the remote start setting is turned on. When I remote lock the car then initiate the remote start, the headlamps light up for a second and it sounds like it is going to maybe start but never does then just stops.  Any ideas???  It is getting very cold here would be a great function to use now.  Thanks!

Remote start should work as long as no CEL is on. I would try turning it off and on in the DIC. If that doesn't work I would remove the negative battery terminal connection for about 15 minutes and reconnecting it and try from there. If that doesn't work I would take it to a Dealership and have them reprogram your key fob. Remote start should always work as long as no CEL is present. if it starts for a moment and dies clean your thottle body. Hopefully this is helpful, enjoy your Pontiac.
