Truck battery

Asked by Guru54D7Y Dec 15, 2017 at 01:17 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Do you have to reset anything after changing a
battery on a Chevy Colorado 2005? Things stopped
working like the window going down, the door
locks not working. Radio spazing out.

My first question would be what was your truck doing that caused you to think you had to replace the battery in the first place?...........My first suggestion is to trace the "NEGATIVE" wire from you battery to chassis and from battery to engine block, and examine for damage or corrosion on the terminals that connect to the chassis and block......Completely remove the bolt or nut that holds the wire/s in place on the chassis or engine, remove anything that looks like rust or corrosion from the terminal with a wire brush and/or course sandpaper until it looks like shiny metal, then replace the terminal and bolt......IF that doesn't help, then you're going to have a little bit more trouble locating the ground wire from chassis to dash for a loose or corroded terminal......These are often, but not always, the source of a problem such as what you've described......Good luck........P.S. you might want to go to O'Reilly's, Autozone, Advance, or whatever other auto parts store you prefer patronizing and try to locate either a Haynes or Chiltons manual for the Colorado.....However, both Haynes and Chiltons manuals are written based on information found in more complete manuals that are tailored to the specific truck and that are available in book form or in some instances on CD for your computer from http://www.autobooksbishko.com/ ..........Both Haynes and Chilton's manuals "can" help you troubleshoot a problem often, but a tailored manual from bishko has about fifteen to twenty times as much information, and may also cost you two to three times as much as either a Haynes or Chilton's.
