Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My battery light and orange engine light came on
while I was on the free way. My thermostat gage
quickly went to 260. I pulled over put in antifreeze and
waited for the car to cool down. Drove it again and the
battery and engine light went on again. When it
happens it's like there is no power stearing as I cant
turn the wheel. Please help

Hook a scanner up to it to verify engine temp, our gauges are useless. If scanner shows normal temp, roughly 195, then replace the temp sensor located right above the thermostat. If indeed it's running hot, replace thermostat AND temp sensor.
