Trailblazer has an awful smell Vibrates when pushing on gas and loses power

Asked by Misty Dec 15, 2018 at 03:49 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When driving down the road  I pushed on the gas
and the truck acts like it's missing and starts to
vibrate I let off the gas pedal and it's fine. There's
also an awful smell like rotten eggs. I can also be
driving 60 miles an hour and everybody is passing
me like I'm sitting still so I'm thinking I'm losing
horse power. What could this be

Rotten egg smell is an indication of a bad catalytic converter. You probably have an engine misfire and other issues. Is the check engine light on?

it could even be plugged up , hit the gas and see if the exhaust blasts out the tailpipe , replacing it will take care of the symptom not the cause

I agree with beatupchevy. Sounds like converter. 2005 model probably needs a tune up. Something is clogging up the converter in my opinion.. if you have an engine light on take to Autozone for a free diagnose. If it's the converter it will show up. .
