Just checked Consumer Reports...There are 2 recalls (Taillights may not be bright enough ---AND---Fuel may leak from the fuel filler hose). But nothing related to the problem you're having. I'd speak with the Dealer about it and also check some Infiniti on-line forums to see if other owners report the same problem.
sorry to say it was addressed two years ago, and then an extension to may 2012,not a recall, though that would have saved you from missing the deadline, like many problems,, manufactures will in good faith but preferred discreetly will address their blunders. then say" oh ,wish you would have not missed the campaign sorry"! kinda like the hailstorm clause with insurance companies right?
Ok..Must have been a TSB (technical service bulletin). I'd still talk to the Dealer and see what can be done..if you've taken your car there for service work and they REALLY value you as a repeat customer. MAYBE they will give you a break and correct the problem...No harm in trying I guess.
I have an 04 and had the same problem. It's an inherent defect in the material that was used. A letter was sent to all registered owners addressing the issue and advising that it could be taken to a dealership for replacement. This was several years ago so I don't recall the specifics of the letter regarding the timeline for resolution; however, I strongly recommend you take the vehicle to your dealer and request a replacement. Tell them you lost the letter you received regarding the recall.
I didn't know about this either, but two years ago, my husband slipped getting out of the car with a sharp metal bracket in his hand and slashed the dashboard up. I lived with it for months, and then, when taking the car in for routine service, asked how much it would cost to repair it. The service guy came back with the notice of the defect (I had NEVER seen it), and said he saw bubbles in the dash, so they replaced it for free. I was VERY pleased.
