07' XL7 locked steering wheel.

Asked by KeithAC May 02, 2011 at 07:32 AM about the 2007 Suzuki XL-7

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi,

Within the last two weeks I have bought an 07' XL7, the steering column was making a slight "leather to leather" grinding sound, I just sprayed a little WD40 into the column between the steering wheel and the column. With the engine off, I turned the wheel a few times to move the WD40 around...when I turned the wheel to the right, and I did turn it further than the first few turns...it locked. Now even with my key in the ignition, the wheel is locked, the gear shift is locked and my ignition key won't turn.

Please advise.

Thank you,

pull the wheel further in the direction in which it locked, and then turn the key. Pull hard. Please award points if this helps
