G8 GT or GXP
I am getting a barely used 1-5,000 mileage G8 but cannot decide between the GXP or GT trim. Is it worth the extra
dough? I know it has the LS3 corvette engine but i could easily just add to the GT to get that power....

It really comes down to what you really want STOCK. If you got a GT, your getting about 360 horses stock, where as the GXP your getting about 415 stock, now, depending on how creative you are, you can make both really fast cars. If you just want a nice, and fast car you can play around with, just go GT, it's a stock small block V8, but if you really want the power and endurance of a Corvette in a four door sedan, without having to tinker with anything, just want all STOCK, then go for the GXP. It really will depend on what you want to do with the car. Me, I'd go GXP, just because knowing me, I'd want to modify the engine and tweak it for more and more power, to the point where it wouldn't be street legal!.
The GXP not only has the LS3 Corvette engine, but also has a FE3 Suspension that was tuned at Nurnbrung. The GXP not only has more power, but also handles much better than a GT. Comparisons have been made only because they are both Pontiacs. They are really not in the same class. the GXP is more appropriately compared to a BMW M5 (with a bigger back seat). Comparing a GT to a GXP is like comparing a BMW 535 to an M5. The 535 has more horsepower than the base model 528 BMW, but the M5 is way beyond a single notch better. It is the same when comparing a GT to a GXP.

NOT EVEN CLOSE TO A ///M5 KEEP DREAMING COWGIRL
I ran an M5 with mine in 2012 and left it in the dust cowboy. Perhaps the new M5, has improved, the car was a 2009. Don't underestimate it. It had that old fashioned American Muscle that puts down the power in straight line acceleration.

This is quite funny because I own a G8 GXP and an M5, and several other cars, but the G8 GXP albeit a very nice car and a good amount of power doesn't even compare to my M5. My M5 came stock with 575 horsepower. The only sedan GM makes that is comparable to the M5 would be the CTS-V. I have one of those as well. The M5 handles better, but the overall power and acceleration of both cars is almost identical.
