Have VW dealers really been able to get the "dealer availability" mark-up for the R32 (a dealer in Laurel, MD is asking for a $2500 premium. Or does this disappear rather quickly when a buyer pushes back ?

Here in Los Angeles, I paid MSRP with NO premium. I would push back or find another dealer.

I leased it and they made me the so-called "invoice" price (lower than MSRP). It seems they have difficulties to get rid of them since the price is quite high for a little hatch. FYI it is a great car to lease instead of buying since the resale value is really high (19000 after 3 years). I could have it for about the same leasing price of a GTI.
