o4 siverado odomerter,gear selectorand radio leds problems

I have a 04 chevy wt and I that sits most of the time (91K ) yesterday I started it after a month sitting in the carport and drove it . The odomerter, gear selector and the radio lights didnt light up. about amile or wo later they came on. But when I got back in truck to return home from Dr office it on took about 1min  untill they came on, went out later to check and they were off again. the radio works fine just the lights didnt turn on as should. I hope someme can help me. thank you .

There is a guy with a webpage called Mr Fixit who has a step by step illustration on the problem and the solution. Not easy, but doable.

I actually tried this and could not get it to work in my situation. I've got more problems, but for many it has worked. You can also send the cluster off and have it repaired for 50 to 100 dollars. They are not hard to get out, and you can still drive the truck without it if needed. I have chosen to send mine off.
