which come on with the blinkers?
The brake lights are wired through the turn signal switch so its a possibility that a connector has melted and the contacts are touching. That's just one of many possibilities.
Take that back I'd lean towards the hazard switch since all the signal lights come on
When I turn on a blinker, it works till I step on the brake pedal , then the blinker stops and all these other lights come on.
This only starts when the auto-headlights come on or I use reverse which would turn on the backup lights.
Have the wiring checked for shorts, something has gotten crossed over or lost a ground.
I'm having the very exact same issue on my Escalade...did you find a solution?
Test your turn signal switch.
My 04 1500 r turn signal lights come on when i hit the brakes, and only works once in a while, was told to get a flasher module (?) 74.99$ at auto zone, got one and going to plug it in tonight. Any ideas clintgalloway@yahoo.com
You've possibly crossed your wires at the steering column.

2001 chevy tahoe, this is my second time with this problem, last time front inside bottom light, but guess this time thats not the case. Its raining or i'd be checkin checkin the bulbs to be sure their all the right sizes. Replacing all the light fuzes. already changed the flasher relay and removed all the body grounds underneath the tahoe and cleand them with a wire brush.

I had this problem, there is four connectors behind the rear passenger tire if you unplug them and clean the connections it will fix your problem.
I have a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe on the driver side front blinker to left mirror and back signal on driver side comes on when steps on brake. Please need help for the problem. Thanks
My guess is your ignition switch. Not lock cylinder but ignition switch harness under coloum ... Chevy is notiorus for that. I've put about 3 in my 95 ,6.5 diesel Silverado When they start going bad all kinds of crazy stuff happens..

i have the same problem 2002 Oldsmobile silhouette keeps saying service traction system but no codes show up, and when auto headlights turn on i step on the break and all my tail lights light up and both turn signal lights just stay on in the dashboard. just had battery replaced cant figure it out - please help
CHECK THE TAIL LIGHT JUNCTION BOX LOCATED UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR. ITS A SQUARE BLOCK THAT HAS 4 WIRING HARNESS CONNECTED TO IT. THEYRE ANYWHERE FROM $12 TO $40 ON LINE. YOU CAN ALSO TRY O'REILLY'S
Had this happen on a Chevy Astro. The flasher for the emergency flashers was bad. After changing that, the problem was solved.
I have no horn, no signals, i hit the brakes and the hazards come on but dont blink. Just steady. Vehicle: 1997 sonoma. Ive taken consideration to all responses and will be checking. But just want some answers. Side note truck will crank but not start. Started this morning. Mistakenly shut it off. Right back to no start. Has all essential components to allow start. Just wont. Check the cap and it was pretty bad with corrosion. Any takers on this oh so lovely vehicle
When I press the break peddle the hazard lights come on! My signal lights stopped working but if I press the break peddle only the driver side signal light works (front & rear) and as soon as I stop signalling the hazards comeback on if I hold the break peddle down. Does anyone know why this is happening?
My problem was every time i used the turn signals they will work very fast and when I pressed the brake pedal, the turn signals will stop working and non of the stop lights would work. My solution was to clean the 4 connectors located behind the rear passenger side tire just over the exhaust pipe.
The starting issues is more than likely your starter. It could also fuel your not getting efficient fuel pressure.

Rabbit 87 i had same problem on my 97 sonoma...check the connection at your radio fuse. The wires behind the fuse block and the metal connections that the fuse touch. Mine had a lose connection truck would crank but not start now starts everytime
I had the same symptoms - worse with headlights on. Turned out to be ground wire INSIDE the connector, right at the connection to junction box behind spare tire resulting in no ground path for any signal, brake or even license plate lamps. fixed wire and now everything works great. Appeared to be a bed crimp on connector prong actually cut the wire to almost nothing.
Wire harness at rear of truck for trailer had wires that were touching. Trimmed and wrapped with electrical tape and problem solved. '98 Silverado.
Did anyone have a solution for when you step on the brakes all hazard lights come on? If you did my email is adam.hard79@gmail.com

The 4 wire connectors on passenger side under bumper close to exhaust pipe. Unplug them clean or tap all the corrosion out and plug them back in fixed mine. Literally did this in the auto zone parking lot.

My 98 GMC 2500 is doing the same as some of the peoples above. When I step on the brake (even with the key off) my left blinker blinks like a champ. Let off the brake and business as usual again. Turn on the right blinker and the brake lights work just like they’re supposed to, but not the blinker as long as your foot is on the brake. I unplugged my taillight harness where it comes out of the cab ( under the master cylinder and it still does it. I am going to replace the steering column as I found a cheap good one and see if that fixes the issue.
Does any one know o my 2000 Chevy 15000 pickup. When I press the brake the right turn signal lights up if you know please email me at eckmannjake@gmail.com
