2004 chevy venture shifts into drive but will not move unless you rev it up then it engages and moves

Check your transmission fluid level. If its low fill it to the proper level. Then look for a leak. If it looks like cherry kool-aid you're fine. If its brown and smells burnt get it flushed. I recommend BG brand.
Did that friday night trans fluid drain changed and filter still will not move unless you put it in drive rev it up until it engages then you can drive once it cools done start all over
I've had quite a few of the GM mini vans over the years. I hate to say but your transmission might be toast.

you people are stupid. everytime i come on here looking for help with my chevy venture, you guys always make it out like its something complicated and time consuming. i had to change my hub assembly last week and all the posts were saying stuff like " you need special tools " and " its gonna take 3-4 hrs". I changed it out in 45 min. This prob is most likely a cable that puts the car into gear. prob a bad bushing. its a simple fix.
