Car won’t start, starter is clicking but won’t turn over

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got my car, 2008 Cadillac CTS, out of
the shop and they replaced the engine and
the battery. I’ve only had it back for a little
over a week and this is the third time it won’t
start. The starter is clicking but it won’t turn
over and now there’s a message that says
“ENGINE HOT, A/C OFF”. Idk what to do
does anyone have any suggestions or tricks I
should try bc I just spent over $1500 and
can’t afford to take it back

Taking it back should not cost you anything. If this started after the engine AND THE BATTERY were replaced, the shop should make it right and not charge you. The warning lights will start working properly when the battery regains voltage. The shop should determine why the battery is not holding a charge. If he battery tests good, the alternator is probably the problem and, I assume one came along with the engine hat was put in.
