2008 Ford Taurus cranks alot before it starts

Asked by hotrod335 Dec 22, 2015 at 09:35 AM about the 2008 Ford Taurus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2008 Ford Taurus has a hard time starting. It cranks over but it takes a long time to catch- the funny thing is that if I turn the ignition key to the off position- there is a clicking sound and the gauges flutter for a couple of seconds - not sure what to look for to repair the car.

Thanks
Joe

Cranking for a while before it starts, (hard starting) is a sigh of a weak fuel pump. I would check the fuel pressure. No idea on the fluttering gauges...
