2008 Escape Hybrid didn't start this morning

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Wife tried to start her car but engine didn't crank/start. Thought the OEM battery died, but the lights came on bright.
Could the lights somehow run off the Hybrid battery? could the voltage on the 12 v car battery be too low to crank the engine and still power the lights, or do I have bigger problems
car is 6 yrs old with 50K miles

I have had this problem too where turning the key did not result in a start. I still don't know why this happens sometimes, but I found that if I push the key further into the housing while turning it, the car will start.
I am having the same problem, did you find the fix to the problem?
ignition control module need to check first
How can you tell if a no start condition of a Escape or Mariner hybrid is a faulty crankshaft position sensor?
Just checked YouTube and it looks like the occasional no start problem In having is with the ignition switch housing https://youtu.be/ke235o- lbzc
2008-2012 Ford Escape No Crank No Start: Ignition Module Replacement by FordTechMakuloco
I have this same exact problem w/ my 2008 mariner hybrid. Did fixing the ignition module replacement work - for anyone on this thread? It starts by pushing in hard and turning it but it takes multiple tries to get it turned on, and seems to be getting longer in tries / by the day. I found this on the internet.. Ford had a bulletin put out on this... "Some 2008 Escape Hybrid and Mariner Hybrid vehicles built on or before 3/8/2008 may exhibit a theft lamp on, no communication with the transmission control module (TCM), no crank, and/or multiple diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) including P0500, P0685, P0A18, P0A23, P1000, P1A0C, P1A0E, P2105, U0101.
https://youtu.be/ke235o-lbzc video by FordTechMakuloco shows the repair if the problem is the ignition module. I need to get around to repairing mine also. I currently just keep pushing in the ignition switch. At the very least its a good theft deterrent. Another problem I've had is with the "Stop Safely Now" displaying and the engine going into electric only mode. Its frustrating but the cause seems to be a dirty or defective Electronic Throttle Body. Supposedly cleaning or replacing will help. I've replaced twice before and that resolved that problem for about a couple of years each time. It happened again recently and I just put Gumout fuel system cleaner and that seems to have helped.
