What does certified pre-owned mean ??

Asked by Sam May 12, 2014 at 08:08 PM about the 2005 Audi A4

Question type: General

If I find a car at a used car lot , not
the dealer can it still be certified pre-
owned ??

Yes. If the car is still under the Certified Pre-owned program then it is transferrable to the new owner. The key is to know the amount of time and miles left. BMW is 6 years 100k miles from date it was put in service or first sold. There are a few vehicles that get certified from Manufacturer Buy Back programs that can be great deals but the will show as a Lemon Buy back on the Car fax which could hurt your resell value so buy low.

Audi's Certified program gives 2 years 50k miles from the date sold as a Certified pre-Owned so know the details before you purchase.
