When I start my car it has a ticking sound that last for about 10 secs and goes off. It does the same thing when I turn it off. What could be causing this?

Could be a stepper motor for heat/ac air direction control or temp control. Sounds like a normal function, so unless you have a problem it may be just be an annoyance.
