Left Lean and Aftermarket E-85 Kit - 2 Questions

Asked by AppraiserX Feb 15, 2008 at 01:15 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2003 1500 W/T 4.3 leans to the left.  I'm the 2nd owner, so I don't know the history.  It seems to steer OK, doesn't pull to either side, but the left side is noticeably lower.  Springs bad?  Is this normal?

2nd...I'm thinking about adding an aftermarket E-85 kit.  Anyone have experience.  Here in the cornbelt, E-85 is very available and cheap.

Could be a spring, but I would suspect perhaps a ball joint or something else is going on there. Some of the Rams we saw at the dealership (typically 90s models) had to have a chassis diagnosis done and sometimes involved putting shims in, etc. Have this checked out. A left lean is a bit unusual. I have no experience with the aftermarket E85 kits, but I know that most of the flex-fuel vehicles made now have quite a bit of modification: different fuel tank, lines, and pump, different injectors, hardened valve seats, etc. to deal with the corrosive effects of E85. You might be better off looking for a flex-fuel vehicle used.
