Tcm replacement and won't shift out of park after

Asked by LindsT Feb 04, 2019 at 04:47 PM about the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 08 chevy cobalt wouldn't shift out of 1st and
the speedometer quit working. The rpms would go
up but the car wouldn't move. We were told to
replace the transmission control module. We tried
that and couldn't move the gear shift out of park.
Any idea why this happened? Or is this not what we
were needing to replace?
