How rare was my !968 GTO?

Asked by Jerry Nov 16, 2010 at 04:59 PM about the 1968 Pontiac GTO

Question type: General

I hope this does not seem silly. The question would be ,. How can I find out , without a vin
number? Forty years ago I bought A 1968 GTO conv., from original owner. Completely stock.
Options-Meridian turqoise , blk int, 4- speed, four bbl, power top, power windows, exposed
headlights, A/c, no power steering , no power brakes, no Ram Air, and AM only radio. Can
anybody guide me? I sold a 64 GTO to buy this car. And sold this one to buy a 1970 Judge.

why doesn't it have a vin ? what about the data plate under the hood on the firewall? there is a place called pontiac historical services(phs-online.com) but you need a vin . the vin should be on the driver side dash.visable through the windshield .

the VIN tells the story,is it you don't know the VIN or the car doesn't have one? sounds like a stocker, with low options.

This would also depend on the condition the car is in Jerry. Not so easy to answer this one, as I take it you can't remember the VIN after 40+ years. But there is a way of trying to track down a similar car online to get a rough idea. ç speed makes it interesting but then you would want the RA3 coming with it. But of course the convertible is in any case higher priced than a Coupe
