Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I went out to my car a few days ago to go to school around 6:30 am. It was maybe 19 F outside. I hopped in and started her up like usual, but there was some crazy squealing noises. I popped it into reverse after the squealing stopped and it backed up just fine. When I went to drive it just revved and smoke started pouring from under my hood. I popped the hood and the fan belt had snapped and left melted rubber on the alternator pulley. It still will not shift into drive. Is it just the cold or something worse?

dont drive it your coolant froze. get it towed to a shop and have then check the engine and trans and tell them exactly what you posted. i hate to hear this from a car like yours. i hope its not that bad. i like cars like that.

My transmission is stuck i start the car up and it jumps into gear while I'm in Park it stays in the low gear
