I have a 2002 Chevy Impala. The gas gauge isn't working. After I fill the car with gas, How many miles do I drive before the tank is low and I need to fill up? Will there be a light come on?

The gas sending unit is bad. I believe it is inside the gas tank. Very time consuming as the tank must be emptied and aired out for safety. The tank dropped and the unit replaced. My 05 Buick had this issue and I was given a quite of $800+ from the dealer to fix it. Shop around and you may find a garage that will repair it for less.
