Check engine light on after passenger headlight was replaced

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I brought in my 208 Audi A6 to get the passinger headlight replaced. That day I noticed that the check engine light was on. When I brought it back they said a small plastic fitting that was attached to a Vacuum line on a large black housing, that regulates the air intake was broken

oops, didnt finish........Could the mechanic have caused the problem? Will the diagnostic report show what day and time the check engine light first came on?
Can't prove if the mechanic caused the problem ... but it sounds like the vacumn leak is near where the headlight bulb was replaced. You could ask the mechanic that changed the headlight to fix the vacumn leak for free because you didn't have the problem prior to taking it in for the light replacement...
when they run a diagnostic test, do you know how detailed the information is? Does is show time and date of the problem?
I don't think it shows the time and date that the vacumn leak 1st occurred. It should be very simple for any good garage to fix.
