I have a 2008 Dodge Charger. My fan broke the other day and poked a hole in my radiator. My husband replaced both fan and radiator. Since he has done that my car within minutes will start running hot if I am just sitting. Like at a drive through or something. As long as I am driving it ,it is ok. What could be causing this?

Dollars to donuts there is air in the radiator that didn't come out when your husband refilled the system. Wait on till the engine is C O L D and add the proper mixture of water and antifreeze. Start the engine and add more mixture if it's low. DO NOT OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband has done all that was suggested by BoholMark. The only thing he did do was open the radiator cap while it was semi hot. Could it be the thermostat? My husband is concerned it is something major.

If it's running good and other than when then when its at a stop for a while, I think you are ok. I'm still with the theory that there is air in the system.

You didn't run it hot for long when all this happen did you?

You can hear the fan kicking on and off. No, I did not let it get overheated. I pulled over until it cooled back down.

Everything else sounds good. That is the only issue as far as I can tell.

Let others chime in. But I still think it's air.

Brought a new fan motor for my 2008 dodge charger cause of the passenger side fan wasn't working put it on the fan still not working,brit the fan cause the car was running hot I place the water pump,the top and bottom hose,the thermostat, still runs hot
