Check your air intake hoses. If the main intake came loose that goes to the throttle body, it will be getting too much air and die. Check all other vacuum lines also. Post back with findings.........

I don't think I explained good enough it never died/stalled I shut it off because it would not go as if the drive shaft was just spinning or disconnected??? People keep saying it's the flywheel but does automatics have a flywheel
The starter is what engages the fly wheel. Are you saying that the starter is just spinning freely when starting the car and the engine is not turning over? It kind of sounds like you were driving and the tranny popped out of gear. That shouldn't have an effect on the engine starting back up. What is happening when you turn the key now?
In answer to your original question, yes, automatics have a fly wheel. Your torque converter bolts to it. But an automatic tranny has hundreds of parts that can go bad. It could be anything.
