Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was given a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme from a relative a few months ago and
up until a maybe a week ago i noticed a hissing sound coming from what it seems like
behind the dash on the left side of the steering wheel. Seems like its coming from the
break booster. Its not a hissing sound when i apply the breaks but a hissing sound
right from ignition and as i accelerate it also gets a bit louder. Anyone know what it
might be? The car is in great condition by the way, need to change the oil pan due to a
leak but in the meanwhile i'm keeping an eye on the level every few days. Thank You
guys.

And the good new is that if its the brake booster they are really easy to rebuild yourself. Buy a rebuild kit at the auto parts store and invest a sat afternoon and you're good to go. Having said that they rarely go so be sure to check all other vacuum lines in the area first like tennisshoes said.
