Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1981 cutlass supreme I just
replace the spark plugs alternator
and battery, but for some reason it
will not stay running. At stop signs
and red lights I have to put it in
neutral keep my foot on the gas. I
was told it might be oxygen

that. Also I have to gradually put my
foot on the gas to go if mash it to
hard sounds its going to cut offs tarts

could be bad gas, spark plugs not gapped properly. Bad MAF sensor or the oxygen sensor going bad.

I( think you have a gas problem probably caused by a vacuum forming in the gas tank which is happening because of a bad gas cap. Try running with no gas cap. If it still is bad, make sure your catilik converter is not plugged up making you lose power. Good Luck,

Since u don't say I m guessing u have a 4 cylinder. the ignition module is under top cover and were prone to failure due to heat. ihere is no way to check them that I'm aware of. Have to swallow hard and take a guess
