Follow your positive cable. if you have the toyota design, and a nippondenso starter, you can find the parts are incorporated within. The normal failures are repairable. a starter repair shop would have the copper contacts. so what is the concern with yours? turn the key and nothing ? check connections. turn the key and it goes, tap, then pull the starter for inspection and testing.

Mine is a Chevy prism I turn the key and can't hear fuel pump but car will turn over just won't crank any idea whats wrong?
