rocker arms adjustment

have tap in rocker arms,took cover off straight tube down the whole lenght of head how do I do a adjustment on the valves 1973 440 6 pack stock heads.

You can't adjust the valves on a Big Block Mopar (your 440) You have a bent push rod or a bad lifter.

or a bent valve ... could also be a broken valve spring .. If you remove the rocker arm shaft make sure the oil holes to the rockers point to the outside of the rocker arm stands (exhaust side of the head ) an easy way to line up the push rods when installing the shafts with rockers is to use your antenna from the fender and lay it down on the intake side of the pedestals , install the pushrods in their respective lifters and install the shaft guiding the pushrods into their cups on the rockers , then lay the shaft into the pedestals ... voila ..!! tighten the bolts evenly so you don't bend the shafts ...

Probably not the case here but I've seen rocker shaft bolts work loose that caused excessive valve noise.

Have a question i took the pushrods lifters and everything out one of the push rods went through a ricker arm and bent the pushrod i replaced the pushrod and rocker went to put everything together and on right side when i went to tighten everything up it pushed the pushrod through the lifter idk why
