Whining noise...

Asked by MindyJ Mar 19, 2011 at 01:07 AM about the 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi.I recently got the serpentine belt and tesioner replaced on my 1998 cavalier. It still has a whining noise (not nearly as bad as before the belts were replaced) whenever I accelerate or am idling. Sometimes the noise goes away, but then it'll start up again softly until it gets to a moderate level. It starts fine, shifts gears fine and drives fine, its just the whining noise that concerns me. Any thoughts, suggestions or possible diagnosis are welcome and appreciated! Thanks!
