Starter or Battery?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey, I just had a new alternator put in today, and I was wondering when I turn my car on why the lights dim for like 5 seconds right after I start it. Would anyone seem to know what's wrong with it? Email me at Bdav1s1@aol.com
Thanks

Was the battery charged fully before the alternator was installed? It has to be fully charged or you can burn some of the newer alternators out -- some have a cut-off that won't allow the alternator to charge if battery voltage of < 12 volts is detected on start-up.
