what is the difference between a 2.3 and 2.4

not a whole lot unless you have the high output 2.3. These were said to have around 190 hp. The 1995 cavalier z24 had a 150 hp 2.3. obviously not a high output version but people have upgraded it by putting parts from the 2.3 HO on it. The 2.4 LD9 also had 150 hp and with a little retooling of the head it could have a 2.3 HO head put on it, giving it an incredible increase in power. 2.3 HO s were alittle rougher sounding than the 2.4s

I have in my possession a 1989 Cavalier Z24 with a 2.8 6cyl MPI engine and that info is from carfax using the VIN #,This motor was original, made in the States.
