VW Tiguan 2016

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While cleaning the exterior, I noticed the tailpipes were coated on the inside with grease type residue. Any ideas where to start? 32,000 miles second owner, wife purchased it 2 months ago. No engine light on, just lucky I found it.
I am not familiar with VW and not a fan of turbo cranking out two H.P. out of a 4 cylinder.

Does it use oil? If the car is driven on short trips where it never warms up oil could build up in the exhaust.

Thank you for your question. It wasn't low on oil. That made me take a better look at the inside of the exhaust tail pipe. I can't explain the source of the greasy substance, but six inches inside, facing the front, the one on the left side had a discoloration where the substance had been. past that it was normal as was the complete side of the right. I no longer believe there to be a problem. Had you not asked I would of assumed which would of been in error. Thank you for your question F-O-R and solving my problem. Much appreciated.

You should probably take off the exhaust wash it with water and dry it then put it back on.
