1990 GMC 2500 5.7 TPI wot halts

Asked by 100317149 Dec 21, 2016 at 03:38 PM about the GMC Sierra 2500HD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When it is cold and I go full throttle (WOT) it dies. Once it is warm, and I go
wot it stays at the same speed but rev's higher. If I go half throttle or below, it
gradually accelerates. Is this transission failure or something else

1 Answer

If you floor it and the speed does not increase then you have a slipping transmission. Full throttle with the engine cold is a good way to cut your engine life way down.
