Grumbling Four Speed

Asked by GuruYKGK4 Apr 12, 2019 at 05:40 PM about the Ford Galaxie

Question type: General

I have a 1964 Galaxie Four speed with a 390 motor. I am getting a grumbling
noise out of the tranny when I start the car and when it is in all gears. The noise
is intermittent and sometimes goes away for a period of time..
What could be causing this noise?
Is there a anti rattle device in the bell housing?

Cool car, it sounds like the main shaft bearing is going bad.
