What modern frame would a 65 Galaxie 500 convertible fit in?

If you want to swap the body on to another frame I would forget it. New cars do not have a frame. What exactly do you want to accomplish?
I want to make a modern car with a Galaxie 500 Vert body.... all the modern stuff, such as anti lock brakes and modern motor and computer from a donor car or truck....
You can upgrade the engine, transmission and brakes without a new frame. The anti lock brakes might be an issue though. You could spend a 100 grand upgrading the car and when you were done it would be worth a quarter of that. It is better to keep it stock and upgrade to disk brakes and electronic ignition on the engine. You can even install fuel injection if you like.
Well... I’m well beyond that.... I’ve done all that.... not really about what it’s worth in the end but what I want to drive.... I’m in the middle of a full frame off resto mod.... this answers my question very well though.... thanks
Heard a few people are switching the frames with a Crown Victoria. Because the old police cars are cheap it appears to be a decent option.
Sorry, forgot about Art Morrison (www.artmorrison.com). He had 1 or 2 frames that can be spec'd for a specific car. If they don't have your model on file they give you a sheet to take measurements and you can choose ride height, type, etc... Considering that you can get a frame set up how you want, and matched to your car, the pricing is not bad.
All of the large Fords used a box frame design and were NOT unibody, like the Mustangs and Falcons. That's why they were so popular with the Government and Police Dept's, they handled abuse. Full-size Ford and Mercury used the same frame design from 65-78 with Lincoln sharing from 68-79. 65-68 Fords have the same 119" wheelbase. 69-78 Fords and all the Mercs and Lincolns have a 121" or 124" wheelbase but the only difference is in the length of the perimeter beams. Those can be shortened to 119" wheelbase. You'd be surprised how just using a better quality part can make the car feel and starting with a solid used frame is first. A popular swap is using old police cars. A Crown Victoria frame will fit under your car after a small amount of lengthening, which any frame shop can do, and can be found pretty cheap (public auctions). Many places offer upgraded suspensions but it will never be as good as a new car. Even so, an air bag system is really good, I think Air Ride makes one. BUT, if you want better than a new car, Art Morrison is the way to go. They have several options in the $10k range for a complete C6 Corvette Frame, or any other of their frame packages, like the Max G, or you can upgrade components.
I clipped my 65 galaxie frame under the front seats and modifyed and installed a 2010 pi forward frame section that I got for $400.00 It was a fair amount of work as the pi frame is 3 in narrower than the galaxies. I used 2x4x 3/16 tubing for the frame rails and widened the pi frame by 3 in. It worked out well but is a fair amount of work. Bob
