My 2005 Yukon ignition switch key

Could not turn the ignition switch key on
finally got it to turn on do you think I need a
new ignition key switch

Would it be that the steering wheel was tight against the steering lock? You move the steering wheel to take the resistance off the lock, then the key would turn easy.
