1978 Fiat 124 missing after running well for couple of miles. What is reason?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I continue to have problems with my Spider missing very badly after I drive it for 2 or 3 miles. Sometimes hard to start as well.  I have tried to address the problem by replacing the carburator, points, plugs, fuel hoses at gas tank and at engine. Although I have not replaced the fuel pump, it pumps well into an open container.   I thought I had a fuel problem but think that I have eliminated fuel as being the issue.  The distributor cap appears newer as do the spark plug wires and the coil although by previous owner.  What else can I do to find the problem?

I would think .fuel pump, even thoe it pump,s when tested, can become hot and and not pump the pressure it need,s.Other would be rotor button or distributor it self.
