The flashing LIM light comes on in my 320d BMW and speed reduces significantly. Why and how do I stop that?

Asked by 888Phil Dec 20, 2014 at 07:51 PM about the BMW 3 Series

Question type: General

While driving my new 320d the car suddenly slowed tonight and a flashing LIM light appeared on the dash. After about 20+ seconds speed resumed and the light stayed on but stopped flashing. This occurred at a few roundabouts. What is the problem and how do I fix it? Showing 3 series in question, is that right?

You should check for stored codes in the cars computer, although it sounds like a bad ABS speed sensor.

The LIM button is on the steering wheel. It is the speed limit button. What it does it will slow down your car to the limit that it is set. For example if it is 20 the car will only go 20 miles per hour. Even if you press the accelerator it maintains the speed to 20 miles. It is one of the features in the car. You can use to set your speed especially where there are speed restrictions. You can switch it off by just pressing on the button again it will turn off. I hope.this message will help others.
