Replaced alternator battery clean terminals will not stay started

Hello, I recently replaced my alternator on my 99
Grand Marquis. Start of the vehicle the voltage
began to drop the car died. I proceeded to check
the battery it was dead as well. Took the battery
and alternator to be checked. Both were fine.
Charge the battery. Brought both home reinstalled.
Did the same thing ran 10 minutes drop voltage
died. Next morning came out and start the vehicle
ran 10 minutes died?

Is the battery light functional? On alot of vehicles its required to be as it completes the "light circut and the vehicle will not charge without it
