Rocam engine won't start
I have bantum 1.6 rocam engine, I recently had
piston rings changed, a week later while driving
bolt holding cap on piston rod 3 ,broke and broke
the oil sump and engine block, I had another
subassembly but it's 1.3, the 1.6 head fits but it just
cranks and not starting, it can't be wiring because
everything was fine before it broke the block. Can it
possibly be the crank sensor or pcm since I used
the one from 1.6 block?

Fit the original fly wheel. There is a difference between the Pre 2007 and the 2007 onwards models. Pre 2007 have 36 minus 1 teeth and 2007 onwards have 36 minus two teeth. The 1300 has a knock sensor and the 1600 does not (if its a 2005 model) The 1600 does not have the knock circuit on the PCM board as the 1300 does. If the conrods are replace, there should be NEW Bolts as these are streach bolts. Is the "New" block off a 2007 onwards Bantam ?
It is a 2005 model 1.6i XLT, I have used my 1.6 head on 1.3 subassembly, flywheel is also for 1.6 and crank sensor. The 1.3 is pre 2007 Thanks in advance
My bantam is a 2007 1.3 I took it out and put a 1.6 duratec engine wil the 1.3 harness work on it?
You will have to use the older type flywheel and there are many Mods you will have to make. If you had of used the 1600 Rocam , it would have been easier.
i have 1.3 ford rocham if I put 1.6 head will it start?
I don't see why not.
Won't I bend valves if I fit the 1.6 head to the 1.3 sub assembly
I can't see this happening. The 1600 valves are slightly bigger. Should give a slightly higher compression.
Jhave a 1.3 motor. Now the gjy swears its a 1.6. Even though i see 1.3 on side of block. Evrything from the 1.6 is on the 1.3 althou im not sure of the head. It cranks and goes but i dont have acceleration power. Timing and evrything was redone but stil no luck in acceleration. It drives but you have to give it a higher rev. When you slow done to drop to 2nd gear and try accelerating again the car feels like it has n bloody heavy load behind. Any clues?
Check that the ECU is not a 1600 board with a 1300 EEPROM. The 1600 Models from 2002 to 2007 (earlier models) do not have a knock circuit facility on the Motherboard. On the EEPROM under the cover which is clipped off for the 1600 will be a number 916 and the 1300 will have a number 676 on the EEPROM.
Sorry i forgot to mention that i had a 1.6 motor but that one blew so i replaced it. The motor i got from the guy says 1.3 on block but the guy swears its a 1.6.
The top Gear ratios between the 1600 and the 1300 are different. On the 1600 Transmission are much higher ratios.

For Ford Rocam: A 1.3 head will not work on a 1.6 block because the bore size (82.070mm) on the block is different. The head will fit onto the block but will not work. the pistons on the 1.6 block is bigger in diameter than a 1.3. A 1.6 head will not work on a 1,3 block because the pistons and bore size is smaller (73.96mm) If you have a 1.6 block make sure you get a 1.6 head - the same applies for 1.3 (the block is stamped 1.6 or 1.3 just below the oil filter housing and the head is marked 1.3 or 1.6 on the LHS - you will have to take the top engine mounting off the head to see the 1.6 or 1.3 marking. If you do fit a 1.3 head onto a 1.6 block there is a possibility that the van may start but once it reaches operating temperature the gasket will blow. Remember that the cylinder head gasket for a 1.3 has a smaller bore than a 1..6. The piston rings are also different in size.

The different in the valves is the valve head diameter (1.3 to 1.6) see attached
Yeah well i got rid of the engine few months back. Was sick and tired of the shit so im getting a import 1.6 rocam motor.
Hi Jaco, Just make sure you have the correct flywheel for your Bantam with the new engine
It comes with a flywheel so i hope its the correct one. I stil got mine from my 1.6
The 2002 to 2007 1300 & 1600 has 36 minus "1" tooth for the Crank sensor pick up (1S6D- 12A650 - PCMs) and 2008 to 2012 1300 & 1600 have 36 minis "2" Teeth crank sensor pick up (5S69-12A650 - PCMS.
Surely if you bore your 1300 block out to 1600 and get a head casket to match the bore size. The 1300 head should work? 1300 motor also has more compression should add more power.
