Fuel consumption problem
Hi I have a huge problem at hand. I own a 1.3 Bantam 2008 model. I use to ged 13km to a litre of petrol. Lately I have been getting 5km to a litre. I have changed and re-gaped the plugs properly, I have changed the air filter as well as the fuel rail conected to the injectors. (This was what my dealer suggested) none of this worked. I have very bad carbon emissions from my exhaust (which was checked by an expert and is fine) the vehicle also does not use oil and the coil wire's are also fine. Can anybody please give me advise?
try replaceing the fuel filter,clean egr,clean IAC.with carb cleaner.
This has been done as well. The problem is that all the fuel passing through the line does not get ignited if that makes sense.
Yea it makes sence,you stated you replaced the fuel rail,did you replace the injectors,if one is bad it will drip into the cylender and not ignite,I would have them checked,if you can do this test yourself,do this pull all injectors leave everything hooked up,put a piece of cardboard in front of injectors,have a friend or someone turn on keyswitch,see how the fuel spray hits the cardboard,they should all spray at the same time with same amount of spray,if 1 or 2 is a lesser spray pattern,they bad,replace do again,if spray is equal to the rest,you found the problem.
I had a similar problem on a customers car, it turned out to be a faulty water temp sensor and cold start actuator by the throttle body, first we replaced the temp sensor wich improved the situation later we replaced the throttle actuator and that solved it. We later added a unichip Q-type and that improved the fuel consumption even further. Hope this helps

On these Bantams, check the fuel return pipe for damage. This will cause extra pressure at the injectors. The problem could also be the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor or wiring. Does the cooling fan stay on when the engine is cold ? It could be a software problem in the PCM. Only one person can sort the software problem out. Phone 0820606425 in South Africa
Regarding the Mazda 2.2 12 Valve petrol engined bakkie, Check that the vehicle's automatic choke is connected correctly. It this condition is happening in the winter time, it could be the chill factor of the cold weather is causing the choke to close when driving. In this case the intake air cleaner nozzle of the cyclonic air filter should be loosened and twisted so that the nozzle faces the exhaust manifold instead of behind the head lamp.

I have the similar problem with ford ikon, a full tank goes about 400km, I took to the dealer they change filters and plugs and they said is the same, unfortunately nothing was resolved ... Please help, mine 1.6 ford ikon 2013
With the Bantam 1.6 I, this has the Mazda B6 Engine. Try setting the ingition timing at 10 Deg and then remove the cover of the Vain Air Flow meter and tention the air flow meter spring one notch. This should do it. Have done a few of them.
The only thing that might help with the 2013 Ikon 1.6 whould be to change the Air Filter unit to a K&N Air filter so long as this vehicle is out of it's warranty period. The Oxygen sensor sets the Air Fuel Ration and every time you go onto Wide Open Throttle, You will get a rich mixture.The older Ikons with the Rocam engines, the CO would have to be set using the NGS Tester available through the Ford Dealers.
The car is still under warranty and still below 60000km, can I take it to Ford and explain them this... The workshop guys are not very helpful hey. You sometimes wonder of the after sales support.
Take it to a smaller dealer and see if they can help. Also check what some of the motoring magazines have to say.

Check the beather to the fuel tank. Check for any petrol leaks in the engine compartment or leaks in the fuel line.
I have rocam 160i 2005 model. Its heavy on fuel. I used to do 7l/100km but now its 14l/100km. The problem started few km after service. Pease help
I habe a ford bantam 2008 1.6 with oil leak. I took of the air filter and found that it blows oil into the intake manifold. I don't know if it is sump compression or what. Please help
Sump comression. Check for spark plus fowled with oil as well. Warn rings. Check valves as well. Perform a compression test and cylinder leakage test.
