Perform a Cluster check. To do this, turn the ignition to the off position, hold the odo trip button in and turn the ignition key to the on/ II Position. After a second the LCDs (odo area) will show test. The cluster is now in the test state. Press the odo button in and release, The Speedo needle will sweep to fill the clock and come to zero. Press the trip button in and release again and the RPM will go to max on the rev counter and back, Carry on pressing and releasing the trip button and all of the rest of the cluster tests will be performed. To stop the cluster tests, switch the Ign key to lock or zero

From this test you can check if the cluster is at fault

The Speedo drive in the transmission is electronic. Remove the unit from the transaxel, connect the plug to the driven gear out of the transmission and have someone check the speedo gauge in the cluster. It could be the unit in the transmission that is faulty
