No spark

Has this vehicle got a solid state coil ? If so replace it with an oil filled coil. Try this first. Check also the igniter module . Its either mounted near the distributor in the shock tower area or on the bulkhead in the engine compartment.

Thanx for the advice, it is a solid state coil, I can't find any igniter module. The only modules that I have found are the ones inside the distrebuter. I also send the coil in for testing and it's working fine. If i test the two wires that supply the coil with power when the ignition is on i get 12v on the one and a few milli volds on the other wire don't know if it is suppose to be like that

Find the Engine Control Unit, Its under the Dash on the left side., and smell it to find out if there is burnt smell about it. If I remember correctly the Igniter module on these cars is towards the centre of the 'Firewall' . The Telstar igniter is near the left side strut. The plug harness connector and wires are facing downwards. Some of the older Ford and Mazda dealers will have a special tool called and Engine Signal Monitor which will identify exactly where the problem lies on your vehicle. This is a piece of equipment with a harness that connects into the vehicle's Computer Box and Harness, together with the diagnostic chart in the workshop manual will identify the voltages and where your problem lies. It's the same piece of equipment that is used on the Mazda B2600, Telstar, 626 and other earlier Mazdas . When deleting the fault codes from the Computer, : Ignition on Acc; Room light fuse out and apply the brake pedal for about 20 second. Insert the fuse , brake pedal off.
