1995 Chry Sebring Convertible Battery Will Not Stay Charged

Asked by Arlene Mar 08, 2014 at 02:52 PM about the Chrysler Sebring

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

New battery has been checked and is good.  Alternator has been checked and is good.  If
car sits for a day it will not start.  Could this be an ignition problem?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF1gijj03_0 -- check this out. It's a how to parasitic draw test. This will help you find what's drawing your battery down.

the parasitic draw test will only confirm you have a draw, glove box light is staying on for instance. you attach a voltmeter in series with a battery cable then pull each fuse one at a time until the draw stops, but you must read the meter with the doors closed.......dome light ;~)

Here is a Strange but True possibility. If you recently installed a Snapshot device from Progressive Insurance, that device has been known to create Battery Drain in some older vehicles. I had a 99' Sebring that this happened too. They confirmed they were receiving similar phone calls. Also... Some Part stores will let you use their voltmeter right there in their parking lot or they may rent one out?

Thanks RickHin that's the first time I heard of that. Will keep that in mind for future reference. Good call.
