2004 T & C battery warning light

Asked by Guru9GGGC2 Jun 26, 2023 at 10:18 PM about the Chrysler Town & Country

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After driving about 5 minutes the battery warning light comes on a 2004 T & C.  It  keeps running and everything still works but I turn off all electrical items.  So far it has restarted and run.  Any ideas?

As the charging system is computer controlled you need to find a shop that knows how to test it properly. A parts store just can’t do that. Could be the alternator failing when it get heated up, or even the computer dropping the charge rate below threshold so the light turns on.

Could be your battery terminals are loose enough to make the van think that you have no battery, or your alternator is on its way out. You can try hitting the alternator with a rubber mallet, and see if the light goes away.
