i have a vw golf y reg it goes perfectly well but the epc light is on conststantly what could this mean?

EPC: Electronic Pedal Control. It comes on usually as a result of a bad break switch.

Nonsense. EPC Stands for "electronic power control" (not electronic pedal control) and while it may come on due to a sensor fault, the idea that it comes on because of a (break (sic) ) BRAKE sensor fault represents perhaps 1% of the possibilities. Almost any sensor fault on the car can trigger an EPC. Take it to the dealer for a diagnostic as the EPC fault light is not very "illuminating" on its own.
